Favorite Books:
I'm tackling the Proust again... but this time in English, ha ha!.. recent major discovery: Vonnegut: Slaughterhouse Five, Cat's Cradle, Player Piano, Bluebeard. LOVE Bluebeard. It's a lot about contemporary art and artists (in the broad sense as well as strict visual art), what place we have, why modern art is like it is, etc.. very interesting, at least to this musician... If you're not TOO religious, you have got to read "Religion Explained" by Pascal Boyer. It's SO fascinating

Favorite Movies:
Ran, La Vie Revee des Anges, I saw and loved The Birds but I will NEVER watch it again because it scared me so bad, Breakfast at Tiffanys, & Roman Holiday (because I have ever so slight of a platonic crush on Audrey Hepburn), Bringing Up BAby, Jean de Florette, Pulp Fiction, chacun cherche son chat, Trainspotting, Romuald et Juliette, Thelma& Louise, Persona, Notorious, Irma Vep, Black Cat White Cat, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Underground, Suzhou River, All About My Mother, was going to put Amelie because I just saw it but that's almost too hackneyed for someone like me. The Piano Teacher, because though I hate to admit it to myself, it reminds me of my relationship with my mother!!! (just a little bit) More Kurosawa favorites: Seven Samurai, Ikiru, Rhapsody in August. And I can watch any hollywood 30s or 40s movie, no matter how retarded the plot is. Especially if Cary Grant is in it.

Favorite Music:
Szymanowski, master of strange harmonies.. Marriage of Figaro-- Don Giovanni-- late Lutoslawski-- Debussy Pelleas et Melisande-- Bruckner 4 & 9-- I LOOVE Couperin-- and Tchaikovsky ballets. Especially the parts on my recording where Ida Haendel plays solo violin, she is so awesome!-- prokofiev romeo &juliet-- curtis curtis-smith piano trio-- ooh, I forgot mozart piano concertos. AND bach cantatas. Beethoven Op. 59 no. 1(esp. budapest qt) and when I'm in a really bad mood, I put on either beethoven violin cto, or beethoven late quartets. actually that's if I want to feel better after. If I want to cry, I put on Mozart, and if I really want to cry my eyes out, I put on schubert.... my favorite will ALWAYs, always be schubert-- so actually I don't put him on much when I'm upset, but at other times

About Me:
I miss my friends! who are mostly all over the place, like on different continents... I just got a job and am having trouble adjusting my self-image to "mature person" ! In my "spare" (read "wasting") time I read far too much, books & the news. Other than that, I love to hang out & drink. Politics affects my mood...when did I realize this? after walking around for the last two days with a grin on my face...
I am a very perfectionistic though lazy person, which means basically I'm always giving myself a hard time about everything and then not doing it, but in light of this, I think I'm also surprisingly happy...

Right on, Dorian.
have read as much as dodo... i try and
try... she has read everything. levi and i
keep asking her for definitions of words
and she not only gives a definition but
also goes into the etymology/ full length
history beginning with origin and the
gradual change of meaning over time
AND reason for the change. it's scary. i
want to be like her when i grow up.

fuzzy! like the teddy bear we all know
you are at heart... awww.
you've ever seen.. i'm so glad i've made
friends with someone who was not only also
homeschooled like me but is also a freak!
(only kidding. i'm not a freak. ha ha.) not only
is this girl really pretty (as you can tell by the
big question mark she has for a face), but
she is also one of the most knowledgeable
people i know. seriously, the girl has read
everything. when we were all reading our
judy bloom and francine pascal in
elementary school this girl was reading
dostoevsky and proust. and she is hilarious;
her sometimes gullible yet down-to-earth
sensibilities make her a really fun person to
be around. dorian, your lunch club loves
you!!!
