favorite people. Even in the throws of
adolescence, Emily was her own
person - she introduced me to Tori
Amos, liked Jewel before she was
mainstream. My favorite memories
involve Emily - watching Real World for
hours in her basement, being flagsters,
driving around with chocolate chip malts,
and wrecking my bike. To this day she's
always doing something cool, she's
always seeking to better herself and
society when she can, and she can
always pick up month-old conversations
as if it were yesterday. All of this, and
more, and we've never really drank
together. Now that's a friend!! (Emily:
you, me, egg nog, and Sioux Falls.)
profound testimonials to boost one's
ego. LOVE AND RAINBOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
icing on the cake! Em is such a great
pal and is also a great cheerleader
Preliminary findings say no. But Emily
is complex, and, if anything,
comfortable in expressing yourself.
Which is great if you're having a
conversation with her (highly
recommended, as there is little she is
incurious about. Diplomacy? Laotian
spies? She's got something to add.) Not
so great if you're someone prone to
being flipped off. You know who you
are, now zip it.
simultaneously. I love that she isn't
easily impressed and that she expects
people to earn their keep with her, as
she has with them. She's incredibly
supportive and will roll with the
punches--a combination of strength and
flexibility that is all her own. And
she's generous with her music
recommendations, which is always
appreciated:)
of. From harassing overlander tours in
the bush to saaking in Katutura, this
chica has got it goin' on! Don't be
fooled by her mild-mannered exterior,
Emily's got a pile of plans to take on
the world, one continent at a time. And
she's got the brains to match. So steer
clear of her new bicycle and let the
lady through!
