graham once walked up to me, and said, not three inches from my face
"i never noticed you had such cute freckles before."
my then-girlfriend told me later on that i blushed a bright scarlet. i hope graham continues to do this for young girls everywhere.
I met Graham at Cherry Tavern in the
summer of 99', and so many
relationships have been born out of
that fated night. We sort of began the
now famous Chicago-Kansas connection.
Anyway, I immediately liked him. And
after our failed courtship and Graham
decided to wash his hair more than once
a month we fell into a great
friendship. Over the years we have seen
mermaids, Noam Chomsky documentaries,
listened to Neil Young "On the Beach
(the record!), and dranken many a beers
in many a gardens. I miss him, and feel
in my heart that someday soon he will
leave la la land and return to
Brooklyn. In the meantime, I will have
to be satisfied with sporadic emails,
brief encounters in nyc, and the
knowledge that Graham is super-cool. I
hope he knows how much I adore him even
if my middle name is flakey sometimes,
but heh it's cool b/c I have a nice
rack.
Graham is right there with Pierre Mabille in
gathering together marvels, Evariste Gaullois
in mathematics, Edgar Allan Poe in landscape,
and Villiers de l'Isle Adam in agony !!!
it's so cute to watch Graham try to
impress you with intellectual
conversation as he's petrified that
people will think he's just another
pretty face... with good reason i
suppose, because you wouldn't think
that the foxiest boy in LA would be so
smart... and when he busts out with
the early-'90s hip-hop dance moves,
you really just want to push him into
the darkest corner of the bar and...
All I know is that when Graham was
introduced to someone interested in
celebrating sexuality in the "tradition of the
ancient Greeks" he fled the bar and threw up.
Graham is truly a confusing young man.
I like Graham so damn much. Once when I
had to use his shower, I asked him for
a towel and he handed me a bathmat.
Graham also helps me remember to use my
inside voice. I'm sure he's busy making
LA a more super place.
