      • About Me:

Dan Millman is a former world champion athlete, university coach, martial arts instructor, and college professor.
After an intensive, twenty-year spiritual quest, Dan's teaching found its form as the Peaceful Warrior's Way, expressed fully in his books and lectures. His work continues to evolve over time, to meet the needs of a changing world.

Dan's thirteen books, including Way of the Peaceful Warrior, have inspired and informed millions of readers in 29 languages worldwide. The feature film, "Peaceful Warrior," starring Nick Nolte, was adapted from Dan's first book, based upon incidents from his life.

Much of Dan's time is devoted to writing and speaking. His keynotes, seminars, and workshops span the generations to influence men and women from all walks of life, including leaders in the fields of health, psychology, education, business, politics, sports, entertainment, and the arts.

Dan and his wife Joy live in northern California. He has three grown daughters and two grandsons.

As the winner of the 1964 World Trampoline Championship in London, he co-captained the 1968 NCAA University of California gymnastics team and has also served as Director of gymnastics at Stanford University and as Assistant Professor of Physical Education at Oberlin College. Due to the varied topics of his books, his work is difficult to label, but is generally connected to the human potential movement. His early background includes training in modern dance, gymnastics, and martial arts. He earned a black belt in Aikido. Later he studied various yogas and other martial arts, and traveled around the world researching integrative disciplines, which resulted in his calling since 1980 — writing about and teaching an approach to living he calls the "way of the peaceful warrior."

      • I encountered the book entitled the Laws of Spirit in the very first day of my college life. I happen to scan into something that can somehow feed my soul and gives me strenght. There I found lying in one of the shelves in our library the book of Dan Millman. I was struck by its title "the laws of Spirit". I immediately read the book and found it really enriching. I almost read that book for the 10th times but still I found it really courageous. I recommended the book to my friends and also they found it very enriching. There are sometimes that I hide the book in my bag (because the librarian wont allow it to be out in the library) just to bring it at home. I am but a person who have many dreams in life but having limited income. During my college days, I encountered many struggles just to finish studies. And during those time that I almost give up and leave those dreams behind I found my encouragement when I read the Laws of Spirit.
