After just one season -- and an NCAA championship -- at Syracuse, Anthony took his magic touch to the NBA's Denver Nuggets. All he did was lead Denver to a 43-40 overall record and its first playoff berth since 1995. The 43 victories were also 26 more than the Nuggets won the previous season, when they had tied Cleveland for a league-worst 17-65 record. Anthony started all 82 regular-season games, averaging 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 36.5 minutes per game. In just his sixth NBA game, he became the second youngest player in NBA history to score 30 points in a game, doing so at 19 years and 151 days old against the Los Angeles Clippers. Later in the season, he became the second youngest player ever (19 years, 305 days) to score 40 in a game -- also setting a Nuggets rookie record -- by scoring 41 against Seattle. Nights like this helped make him an NBA All-Rookie first teamer, and helped him win all six Rookie of the Month awards for the Western Conference. Anthony, fellow rookie and USA teammate LeBron James (who won all six for the Eastern Conference), USA teammate Tim Duncan (1997-98) and two-time gold medalist David Robinson (1989-90) are the only four players to win Rookie of the Month honors every month of their first season.
