sometimes i call carlyn my friend.
this can be confusing, but the post-
post-modern world is like that. in any
event, carlyn and i spent many happy
hours together as children. she and
her brothers taught me the phrase "that
sucks," much to the displeasure of my
parents. my interest in housing policy
can possibly be attributed to the days,
weeks, months we logged playing
monopoly. and i truly wish that my
father had not captured, on film, an
early-1990s conversation the two of us
had about the meaning of the
word "pretentious," but such is
life.
