Started acting career as an actor in TVB's television series. Entered TVB's 10th Acting Academy in 1980 when was about 18 years old In 1982, got to be the male lead in "Eagle Hunter". Then, in 1983,played the role of Yeung Goh in "Return of the Condor Heroes" which made me popular and was named one of TVB's Five Tigers. Left TVB in 1988 to pursue an acting career in the movies industry.

First movie in 1982 called "Boat People", with George Lam. Around 1986, was "frozen" by TVB. TVB did not give any roles in TV series. Luckily, Chow Yun-Fat helped me out. This launched movie career.Starred in two movies with Chow in 1987, "Rich and Famous" and "Tragic Hero." From there onwards, movie did well in box office. Since 1982, had made over 100 movies. 1999 & 2004, won the male actor in Hong Kong Film Awards, " Running out of Time" & Running of Karma". Juz won the male actor award in golden horse, "Internal Affair 3"

First album released in 1985 with Capital Artist. However, it was not very successful and did not give any recognition as a singer. Until 1990 when released "Can I." The songs, "Can I" and "Affinity Ends," became popular. The Mandarin version of the song, "Affinity Ends," called "If You Are My Legend" became very popular in Taiwan. The album sold over seven platinums and launched singing career in Taiwan.Was named one of the Fours Kings in singing in 1991.
