I completed my first marathon (LA Marathon in March
of 2003) in 4:06. I hit the wall at mile 23.5 -- ouch :-)

More personal stuff - I took a year off and traveled
around
the world (Africa, Australia, Yucatan-Mexico, Italy,
France, England, Netherlands and Fiji) and started
volunteering with a local non-profit for disadvantaged
children and I started painting again :-)

It was one of my lifelong dreams to visit Africa and the
link below contains photos from my safari to Kenya and
Tanzania and other goodies. I cant imagine a place on
Earth where the landscape and animals are more
breathtaking
or a place where the people are more genuine. In case you
were unaware, Kenya was a British colony and most of the
people speak English. making travel easy.

The trip to Africa has certainly enriched my life and
broadened my perspective. I realize that despite what I
have gone through in life, I have never had a hard day
when
compared to Africas children I have always had running
water, food, a toilet, electricity and lots of
opportunities.

I have been very fortunate in my life to travel to various
parts of the world and to receive an education. I have
given tremendous thought and have drawn from my lifes
experiences but have been unable to articulate the depth
and severity of the poverty I encountered. So, while I
continue to digest what I experienced, I am looking for
non-
profits and activities that allow me to incorporate
helping
others in my life.

And to round things out, I have a degree in Fine Art
(focus
on oil painting) and a background in advanced mathematics.

I am looking to meet fun, interesting people. I
am an avid runner, fantasy football player and am into
yoga. Look forward to connecting.
