About Me:
I'm pregnant! check out my blog at tessence.blogspot.com.
Creative, nonconformist, a bit shy. Nerdy. Sassy. I like
The Unbearable Lightness of Being not just because i
invented a drinking game to go with it but also because it
perfectly
describes how i feel about life -- there's a million whole
separate lives i want to live and i'm mad that i have to
pick one and stick with it. I wanna be a literary
translator, a novelist, an anthropologist, an actress, a
figure skater,
and John Cusack's girlfriend. But until i get around to
that stuff, i like writing for the Chronicle and being
married to Erik, who is actually better than John Cusack
in
many ways.
My therapist says it's very important for me to always be
right. She's wrong about that, though.

in-law a gal could have. She will kick
yo butt at Scrabble AND Jeopardy and
plays a mean "Song Game," as long as
the topic isn't "asparagus". I'm gonna
visit her soon at her phat pad in Cali.
Love you girlie!
She's a Scrabble queen and a tough-nosed journalist.
Despite these seriousnesses, she laughs a LOT. All
the while smiling and laughing, she'll build a mean fire
and knock back a drink or two. Tough chick. I like it.
Carrie. Things like she will kick your
ass at Scrabble, but in the kindest way
possible. (Ok, maybe not yours, because
you're some kind of Scrabble savant,
but she sure as hell kicked mine. And
my brother's - see below.) She can sing
a Don McLean song as memorably as Don
himself. She has herself an awesome
husband, Erik: artist, lithographer,
game designer, Renaissance Guy. She
seems to have traveled everywhere and
is a veritable trove of tales from the
far corners of the globe. Truly a
classy dame. Did I mention she's good
at Scrabble?
of Queen Of Friendster. Yes, yes, I
know there are people on here with ten
million friends and there are just 37
Friends-Of-Carrie, but don't be
fooled. We're like Friendster Special
Forces, each worth 20 normal
friendsters. So don't be messin wit
our Queen or we'll kick your ass.
a button, and sweet to entertain a story's wife.
i love your midwestern down to earth-ness
and your relaxing charm. love love
serves up great chili and cheese, she
can hike up to 18000 feet above sea
level without needing to catch a
breath, her Christmas tree-trimming
parties are the stuff of legend, and
she's a fabulous writer (remind her to
get off her duff and write that Great
American Novel). Tough enough to
withstand the outdoors, cute enough to
freak out when driving down icy roads.
Oh, and impeccable musical taste, an
easily overlooked but absolutely
essential virtue. If you're in the mood
to do anything, even camp on the Great
Wall of China, she's there. Proof once
and for all that Wisconsinites are
cool. Finally, I quote from my
essay "China, September
11": "Attentive, bubbly with curiosity,
*young*."
adventurer, and the drive to accomplish
anything she wants. I love to listen to
her travel stories, but wow, you should
see her in the climbing gym,
voraciously devouring those plastic
holds (well, figuratively) and
improving every time she hops on the
wall. My favorite part: she's in it for
the fun (like me) and that's what keeps
her coming back. Now that's motivation!
favorite "waiguoren." She tells
entertaining stories of the motherland -
- which I've never visited. But when I
do, I'll be prepared! She's also a
bottomless fount of knowledge in regard
to puns, Wisconsin trivia, and
technology issues.
driving with her to HP's headquarters
in a beat-up company car and chasing
after employees for interviews. It
sucked but it would have sucked worse
without her there. Carrie is one ultra-
hip chick with a great sense of humor
and a love for Wisconsin that would
make her state proud.
