truly a gentleman and a scholar. very
good writer as well as you will see for
your self should you ever read his
writing. you are the man, jason, and
that is why i harbor a little animosity
towards you... but in a good way... take
care, man....
wes
him whilest he stayed at my house
during my roomates wedding
festivities. And what can i say... he
came, he partied, he slept. Like the
long lost brother I never had. Thank
god he lives on the other side of the
country from me, as I forsee a lot of
mischief should we ever hang out
regularly. There's just somethin
about this fellah that just makes ya
wanna smile and have a good time.
by those more eloquent than me. First,
I will restate the most accurate thing
I think that has ever been said about
Jason: Jason consumes everything
around him- Books, Drinks, Dancing,
Music, Ass (there was a time at
least)... Constantly longing thirsting
needing to experience, to feel, to
consume. It is truly amazing watching
him "be him". Boundless energy and
always puching, pushing into more and
more... However, it would be easy to
dismiss Jason as just purely
hedonistic, or sensual. It would be
easy to miss what makes him truly
great. He is the most determined of my
friends. He would say that I am
exaggerating. The facts are clear and
they are these: Jason took ten years
of piano. He loves music, just loves
playing. He is so talented that he
could he could he a song once, and
smash out a reasonable facsimile on
the piano. I imagine he might have
wanted to be a musician. He certainly
had the chops with a little
refinement, perhaps. However, a funny
thing happened on the way to the
forum, Jason accidently ran his hand
into a tray full of wine flutes. It
cut his right hand to shreds. Even
today, three years later, he has
numbness and he will never have full
movement again in his fingers. I would
have moped, and cried for the loss of
my love. Jason forged a new path. He
currently is teaching himself guitar,
he never gave up. Jason never would.
Moreover, the reason Jason was working
was to cover his expenses. This I
realize is not uncommon ( many people
work to cover their expenses in
college); however, Jason was really
the first in our group to do it. Rob
worked and used his avings to make his
life comfortable. Jason worked and
borrowed just so he could go to
college. In fact, Jason (like Rob) has
always worked. You name it he's been
it. Caddie, Waiter, Bar-Tender, fast
food clerk everything. He worked his
fingers to the bone, just so he could
get an education and live onhis own
terms. It takes a special kind of
person to do that. It takes an
uncommon determination to strive
against odds, and overcome even the
highest of hills. I love so many
things about Jason. But the thing that
I wish I could emulate most is his
toughness.
others have said,(mainly because they
are much more intellegent than myself)
but Jason is Cavalier made flesh. I
sometimes think he wont stop absorbing
everything around him; music, movies,
art, books, beer, ect. It all seems to
be an attempt to experience everything
that humanity has already. As a
result he has an egnimatic aura about
him, like he knows shit that you
don't. In him, you can't hate him for
that because, more than likly, he
does.
But to me the most striking of
Jason's considerable qualities is the
fact that he is a kindred spirit.
Plain and simple. no matter how much
time has elapsed from one meetting to
the next, it is never awkward. We
slip right back into our old routines
and joke about Voltron and Comics.
That gives Jason a timeless qaulity.
One that will carry him far.
marry him. I'm sorry, I don't go for
husky gals, and this one is built
manly and Ford-tough. Jason's best
quality is his passion. He is
constantly yearning for more- more to
read, more to experience, more
pleasures forbidden, more people to
meet, more new music to experience far
more intensely and spiritually than
the creators could have intended.
Hedonistic? Surely, but in Jason it
is a fantastic quality. Jason is
also: a writer, a fan of Tim Allen,
the owner of the most piercingly
attractive eyes, an incessant whiner,
an amazing piano player, recovering
from a severed nerve cord which
hindered said ability, the best
drinking buddy you could ask for,
possibly an alcoholic, and probably
not homosexual.
