what we called him), I'da never made it
through those two years in prison. And then
there was that little incident in Alabama.
Anywho, Sticky, as the great Telly Savales
said, "Who love's ya', baby?"
slammed my head into a desk when the
teacher wasn't looking. It took me
three years to forgive him. By the
time we graduated high school I was a
pudgy little thing as a result of all
the time I spent with him - beware his
speedy metabolism!
got his ass kicked and his car stolen -
and he's STILL my friend! That's the
kind of guy Matt is. Even if you get
his ass kicked and his car stolen, he
will still be your friend...I'm lucky
to have a friend like Matt
justice to the source of joy formerly
(and sometimes currently) known as
sticky. perhaps no testimonial really
can. let's just say that i'm listening
right now to a mix cd he made me that
somehow seamlessly includes both merle
haggard and some band called fennesz,
and he tried to time the bestowal of
the mix cd so i would have it on a long
train ride i was about to take. that
didn't work out, but still, how many
people think about how to make other
people's long train rides more
pleasant? last night i really wanted
to make him see a movie with me, but
alas, he lives far away now. so i
stayed home. when you've got a matt
craving, no substitute will do.
was a little nervous 'cause matt (he went by
the name "sticky" then) told me he liked rock
& roll. then he took me to a dungeons &
dragons game & also injected me with
heroin. things have been pretty good ever
since. in all earnestness, matt's been a very
formative influence. props.
crimefighting league after undergoing
rigorous training at the Emo Temples of
Louisville, which apparently involves
drinking lots of beer.
has had a big impact on my life. Oddly
enough, out of all the bands that we've been
in together, it's playing old-time music that I
think about most, and miss the most.
Someday maybe we'll make beaufiful music
together again. Brothers for life!
and musically talented individual, and
he's just moved here - so welcome him
and show him around. As to how he
received his nickname of "Sticky"
during our freshman year of college, my
lips are forever sealed...or at least
until you get a few drinks into me :)
