The light comes infrequently. It came a few minutes ago through my open blind, open to the green grey of wingra creek across the road. The light came and danced on the wall, refracted through the window, in the shape of panes, a glorious gold in the white space above the stairwell. I went and stood in the light, took the rays directly into my eyes. I remembered writing in Rittenhouse in Philly with the light streaming directly down, swallowing me, enclosing me, "Sometimes you need to look directly into the light to be whole.
