quintessential Antiochian. Someone I
wish I hung out more with. I don't
think I ever knew anyone that dislikes
Matt. And a funny man besides, who
likes folk music. Can we clone him?
the world needs more Matts.
together at Antioch (not on purpose) but
we've worked it out and he even helped me
get my own domain. (Look at that cute face.
Would you be so mean to scare hiim???)
advisor", but as someone who actually DID
have Matt as a hall advisor my first (and
unfortunately ONLY) year at Antioch, I can
safely say its all true! I remember my first day
on campus moving into the dorm. Matt saw
my 3.5" disks and asked me if I had a Mac...I
said (very proudly), "No, I have an AMIGA." His
eyes lit up, that was the answer he wanted to
hear! Since then I have converted to Cult of
Macintosh, but I remember those Amiga days
well! Matt's the greatest and way back in the
day I remember thinking Emily was very lucky
(although she's just as fab!).
Truce. If you did that without getting
out the lyrics book, you are the Stan
Rogers champion of the world!
Got me listening to Stan Rogers now.
Too bad not trip to OH but this year we
talked of you in bars around a quiet
beer.
Family's good to focus your energy and
resources on. Check this guy out, what
a swell guy! Very much in character.
And very much a character.
I guess I'll stop using this as a chat
board :-)
Maybe we should do a NE alum get
together somewhere closer to (or right
near) your place. Not a bad place to
go play (mountain bike, sea kayak,
hike, etc. etc.). Maybe we should have
a reunion that rotates!
Keep on a smilin'!
Cheers,
CD
Still working on lining up that lobster
boat... Let me know if you find one and
I'm there!
I mean really though, it's been 6 years
since since you sailed away, seems like
you just made Ellsworth yesterday, so
I'm not sure how long it'll be, even
though I want to see your smiling face
45 years from now.
Right now I'm watching the files behind
the desk turn to straight beige rows.
Putting another season's grant reports
in the files.
Really 34's no age to start again. But
the paper cuts are rough and I am never
free of pain. While others spend their
earnings getting tanked, most of mine
get banked, saving for the boat.
So now I often take night-shift walks
when the foreman's not around....
Did I forget to mention that I now play
guitar because of Matt and can't go to
the bathroom or walk down a stairwell
at Antioch without hearing music.
That didn't sound quite right that last
bit.
Ah well.
We all missed you at reunion. Coming
next year? 150 yr. Antioch
anniversary.
and strife...
But Matt sings and smiles his way
through it.
He's also the patron saint of all
Antiochians on-line.
(PS Name that tune, Matt!)
Matt still living as close as the hall
downstairs. Matt is always laughing,
and filling those around him with good
humor (and I don't just mean ice
cream). He's everyone's hall advisor,
and you're as likely to find him online
as hiding in the stairs, playing guitar
or banjo (or harmonica). Give him a cow
t-shirt and he'll be your friend for
life.
He keeps me sane just knowing he is
out there millions of miles away. Now
he's a DAD! and will be the best Dad
ever. He will have Owen typing before
he can speak!
first time we met we actually got into
a fight. Probably kicked eachother on
the school playground of the elementary
school. Matt is the only person I stay
in touch with from my years in Hastings
and that's probably because he's the
only person worth keeping in touch
with. Matt you were, are and always
will be a great friend.
