10 years but she is still one of my
all-time favorite people and just
knowing that she is out there is
exciting. We got to know each other in
a painting class at Smith and had late
night conversations breathing in the
fumes of odorless paint thinner. I told
her about my 10th grade choir concert
where we performed "Phantom" and then
about my grandparents that used to store
keys in Kentucky Fried Chicken
containers. She painted an oil painting
of 'duck boots'. I drove her to
Rochester, NY and stayed in a room with
a stuffed Raven that frightened me.
Then she came and visited me at the
3-Arts Club. She takes Greyhound or
Amtrak everywhere and I admire her
passion for public transportation and
her handwriting. I miss her hand
written letters that I no longer receive
since the advent of email. I also
visited her in Miami and was fascinated
with the interesting connections she had
forged in a new city & her running
group. We need more like EL
and funny and charming, and I'm sorry
that I missed her when she was
visiting. It has been far too long
since I've seen her and talked to her
and had an adventure with her.
roommate I ever had!
Virginia town where we worked on a
trail construction crew. She is a
brave, thoughtful, and intelligent
woman whom I will always admire.
Florida is the single continental
state I have never visited, and since
Eleanor lives there, I intend to visit
her and Epcot in the very near future.
humble opinion. Gentle and kind in her
demeanor -- with her words and manner
easily betraying her intelligence and
sensitivity with which she is so
generous with her friends -- of which
I am proud to fall into that catagory.
Eleanor does not only rock, Eleanor
friggin' SWINGS. (:
