behind the scenes in the history of
Meredith's artistic development, having
turned on SNL in our living room in the
80s, having made her listen to Sweet
Dreams over and over again , and having
brought home A Clockwork Orange for
family viewing. There were some times
when I was concerned- for instance,
during her New Kids on the Block
phase,
(oops, did I just make that public?) - but
she passed through those times and is
now a stylish social butterfly. Meredith
over the years has influenced me and
continues to influence me a great deal:
Twin Peaks and all things David Lynch,
her vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, and her
life of working to live, not living to work.

What she may not remember is that it isn't the
first time that her jewlery has caught my delicate
and fair skin.
Running fervently from headlights firing just over
what appeared as a series of endless hills, an
errant brooch came loose and in the shuffle,
lodging just above the aboriginal tattoo on my
shoulder.
But then again, we had no place being that far
from civilization. Mexico city was miles away,
and our ride wasn't landing for another two hours.
that was creative, convicted, and
beautiful. and just when you thought she
couldn't become any more fabulous, she
became creative, convicted, beautiful,
and confident. and that's when you
learned: there are some people that you
love that you couldn't possibly imagine
as any better, but they, realizing what
you don't, continue to level-up, growing
increasingly amazing. this is what
meredith does.
