GOLDEN SCREEN CINEMAS SDN. BHD. (GSC) is the leading film exhibitor and distributor in Malaysia.
GSC is the merged entity of the two giants of the Malaysian film industry, Golden Communications (M) Sdn Bhd (GCM) and Cathay Cinemas Sdn Bhd (CCSB). The merger has resulted in the biggest single entity in the Malaysian cinema entertainment business. This background not only brings with it more than 90 years of combined involvement in the cinema business, it also broadens and expands GSC's exhibition reach.

SHAREHOLDERS
The main shareholders of GSC are PPB Group Bhd (PPB) and Golden Harvest Group (GH) of Hong Kong, holding 54.2% and 40.2% of the equity respectively.

PPB is a Malaysian based group listed on the stock exchange of Malaysia. It is a diversified group with interests in food industries, plantations, environmental engineering, utilities and waste management, property and entertainment. GH is a listed Hong Kong based group which has been in the film business for over 30 years. Its principal activities are worldwide Chinese film distribution, as well as film exhibition in Hong Kong and South East Asia. It enjoys a dominant position in Hong Kong, and with its partners, successfully brought the multiplex concept to the Far East.

FILM EXHIBITION
With the opening of the 12-screen GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang in January 2004, GSC operates the largest circuit with a total of 86 screens in 16 locations, all of which are located in prime sites in major cities and towns throughout the country. They include Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Sungei Petani, Seremban, Malacca, Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu. Our flagship outlet in Mid Valley Megamall is currently the largest multiplex in Asia, with a total of 18 screens.
