subsequently rendered one of our
more delicate friends totally
speechless.
Also, he laughs giddily to stories
about poop. That makes him alright in
my book.
think he hates dancing. But he used to
dance ON THE TABLES at the Rancho
Relaxo. I swear it's true and I've the
pictures to prove it. (P.S. Slim,
that's a nice picture of you and Theo.)
who is grinding us all down. Despite my
many efforts to sabotage his career, Dan is
going to be the most awesome history
professor ever. How many super smart
academics do you know who are also nice,
funny, down to earth, and wear cool shoes?
Dan's my hero.
chances are very likely that you don't
know me as well as Dan does. Although
he once dreamt that my wife was
cheating on me with a bear (a bear
right?), he has remarkable powers of
clairvoyance. Hmm, maybe I'd better
give Lori a call. Plus, he has the
sweetest finger roll this side of
George Gervin.
that I still have today. What started
out as a joke somehow stuck. His loft
is responsible for my continuing Mario
Kart addiction. Many nights spent
chilling with this one. Those long hot
summer nights filled with the naive
exuberance of youth.
but Dan's consistency keeps him in
focus. You can be in any situation and
you can imagine exactly what Dan would
say, what joke he would crack, what
story from the past he would be
inspired to recount, and what his
facial expression would be - if he were
there.
One of Dan's most endearing traits is
that he takes his job as Social Group
Historian and Resident Weird Funny Guy
very seriously. Tradition is very
important to Dan.
quintessential weird American in the
tradition of great weird Americans
(look at his interests fer
chrissakes). I think that Dan doesn't
take a lot for granted--in fact, I get
the idea that he likes to stand stuff
on its head and point out how utterly
ridiculous the status quo is. I guess
it's a critical exercise, but I also
get the idea that sometimes Dan just
likes to fuck shit up. But when he's
not, I know that he's somewhere wearing
those damn pants, eating bananas,
playing basketball games on the
computer, and laughing that crazy
crooked laugh.
