Lucy Anderton is the queen of baseball! In March of this year, the Lu predicted that the CHICAGO WHITE SOX would win the whole bundle and I'll be jiggered if she wasn't dead on. I don't think the Royal Consort Nick knows how lucky he is. I miss my sis, I love her so and wish she would send me a poem or two like the "other" Bill... not that I'm jealous or anything. ALL HAIL THE LU!
And on top of it all she was right about the White Sox. She was right all along, and now we have no choice but to be believers. She's a power prophet, this Lucy.
Lucy is my heroine. She knows what to say and when to say it. When i grow up I wanna be as awesome as she is. One of the highlights of my life was touring with her. Being on the road with Lucy was the single most incredible experience and added an element of class to my poetry. Somehow she rubbed off on me and i will never forget it. She really is my big sister. And ties for best poet with Rachel McKibbens in my book. and her husband is pretty awesome too! they, as a couple, give me hope that there's someone out there for all of us. They make me believe that love is not all disappointment and tears.
Lucy is proof that the rumors about
poetry being dead are greatly
exaggerated.Her words and her perfomance
meld truth with vibrance,also exposing
the lies of binarisms such as "page"
"versus" "stage" poetry--good poetry is
good poetry,and when performed well,
exposes false dichotomies!*smack
forehead*Sometimes, when someone is this
good with what they wield, there's a
fear that maybe the person behind the
words is an egoist or a diva---pshaw!
Surprise! She's fabulous, the real deal,
radiating the honesty and the enthusiasm
evident in her work. Hierarchical
distinctions around her blur in dazzling
smears (I had to work her feministaness
in there somehow...also something about
her relationship with Nick as
non-hetero-normative, too, I spose).I
feel her as a sister in the
struggle, even though I only see her in
the now and thens. If you meet her and
the horse and don't feel warm
fuzzies....you might not have a pulse.
Oh, Lucy Lucy Lucy. Her poems strike
me to the ground. Lift me to the ceiling
fans. And she is that kind kind of kind.
Turning the world into pixie dust where it
once looked dusty and cold and gray.
She is my beloved moonshine. I love the
way she waxes the moon.
Ten things to remember about Lucy
1. Be nice to the pony.
2. "Shnuzzz" really does have a short U
sound for the vowel.
3. One should shnuzzz liberally and often...
4. ... including the pony.
5. Do not question when she's channeling
The Virgin Mary. La verdad!
6. When inquiring minds REALLY want to
know, they should ask Lucy first.
7. She's brilliant.
8. She's gonna rock yer poetry world.
9. Her hubby's fine...
10. .. and her momma's good lookin'.
She should get to be Queen forever and ever amen.
