There was a little girl hiding in her heart.
When she came out to play, Melissa
was all the more beautiful...until she ran
into the wall. Melissa lives on her terms.
And while one day the little girl will
emerge again--for good--Melissa is in a
transitional phase. There is good and
bad in that, but in the end, it evens out.
Strength and courage, mei-mei.
compassionate, feisty, witty, fiercely
loyal to her dogs and those in her
immediate circle. There is a side to her
that people rarely see, even to those
who have known her longer. There is a
little girl who peeks out the window of
her heart, and I have been privileged to
see glimpses of her. Time and space
are two of her greatest needs, and
another is unconditional, honest, gentle
love. One cannot imagine how lucky I
am to have met her and to be involved
with her.
I don't mind saying that life with her is a
wonderful, worthwhile journey. My soul
is a better thing for her being in my life,
and I am forever grateful.
