Laban, besides being someone who smiles
a lot and likes to joke and laugh, is someone
to be admired in the way he seeks to better
the world, one step at a time, starting locally.
In a day and age when most people seem to
see through tunnel vision--focusing primarily
on their personal lives and goals--Laban is
clearly focused on the world at large, and
what he can do to help it improve.
Even Republicans like me have to admire
that perspective, and you certainly see that
perspective when Laban is in action.
Beyond that, he's a great filmmaker and, so I
hear, a very good skateboarder.
I hope to spend more time with Laban in the
near future.
I don't know what to write about
Laban.... I've known him for so long
that what I knew, what I know, and what
he is could all be different things. We
have been through a lot of life
changing, wonderful, horrible,
meaningful stuff together. And for
that I love this guy. And, I love all
of the cool stuff that he is into and
does. Laban is going to rock this
world one way or another.
i first met laban at the good luck bar
in los feliz. he hated it. he didn't say
much. i thought that he was very los
angeles.
but then i got to know him and
realized that he was pretty fucking
hilarious and had a lot on his mind.
after a conversation or two, i knew
that this was a person that i would
soon consider a friend, and now i
must say that i do.
