for me to summarize how much Dust's
friendship has always meant to me in a
space less than two paragraphs. He
commands a sort of incredible honesty
that I've always found refreshing,
paired with a determined, unyielding
loyalty that refuses to be ignored. He
has been my Jedi master in All Things
Cool (tm), from comic books and foreign
films to political statements and
action toys. He's brilliant and witty
and living his dreams, and not so much
like Charlie Brown anymore, though I am
sure the tendency is still there
beneath the surface. I love him. You
should, too.
say something snarky here, but I
can't. Apollo had the muses follow him
around everywhere, and likewise Dust
attracts creative women, who are then
destined to follow him around as
well. We're stuck in his entourage
forever, doomed to be under the
influence of a bright light none of us
knows nearly enough about, save that
it warms us, bathes us in its
reflection of talent and brilliance,
and seems to rise and set each day
through motions we cannot entirely
explain. He is a source of both color
and cancer, and without him - well, I
suppose we'd all be pretty sad. He's
Superman's best friend, and, I
suppose, quite often mine as well.
