More about Pittsfield

Occupation:
bein' the seat of the Berkshires

teen pregnancy, shootin's, pot luck suppers, Park Square re-routing, white trash, UMASS Amherst, allowing GE to rape me repeatedly, you know, small-town life!
-
Favorite Books:
I don't really read all that much, mainly periodicals: the Berkshire Eagle, the Pittsfield Gazette, the Pennysaver

Anything sorta mainstream that's playing at the Berkshire Mall. God, I miss the Cinema Center. I mean, it's still there and all, but I think it's like a Salvation Army now.

About Me:
The boundary line between New York State and Berkshire, our
western border-land, rests on the summits of the Taconics
for fifty-one miles; Berkshire's bounds north and east touch
here and there the ragged Hoosacs, whilst Pittsfield (me),
the county-seat, is seated, in high state between, one
thousand and thirteen feet above tide-water--commanding a
marvellous perspective of a thousand hills. Six lakes smile
in the arena of my splendid mountain amphitheatre, and two
little rivers join forces in the centre of my city, flowing
to the sea as the powerful Housatonic. The discriminating
eye of Colonel Stoddard in his diplomatic journeys to Albany
and Sheffield saw the luxuriant Pontoosuc meadows and fine
water privilege of the upper Housatonic; therefore he chose
six miles square of these ancient hunting-grounds of the
Mohicans and Schaghticokes as the patent which he received
as a grant from the province, in return for his "great
services and sufferings on divers journeys to Canada and
Albany, " and his entertainment of the Indians at his own
house.

Who I Want to Meet:
Anyone who's lived in me, or perhaps traveled through, or
maybe even those who just like a good fall foliage (I've got
it!) First name- Pittsfield. Last name- Massachusetts. But
you probably knew that already, you being so smart and all.

tour in Vietnam, you were as good a
version of Arcadia as any boy could ask
for. After Vietnam, however, you were
just another Northeast city run to seed,
overrun by corruption, joblessness, and
vice. I like to think I had a small hand
in putting an end to all that, however.
My relentless war of attrition against
organized crime began outside a small
Pittsfield pawn shop, where five vicious
loansharkers met their deaths at my
hand. I went on to rock the Pittsfield
syndicate to its very foundation back in
1970, and I like what my home town has
done with itself since those dark days.
Keep up the good work, Pittsfield. Live
large!
i ate my tiny hot dogs & i hiked up
mount washington. fun times.
last 2 summers & this is what happens!
Sea Bee. Too bad it's no longer there.
Life is so hard.
little hot dogs & GE.
with you, but really it is just a deep
and loving relationship. Whether it's
enjoying a crack pipe in an unfurnished
apt. building on Union street, or just
hanging out at "the" Friendly's on Elms
st., Pittsfield always has something
fun to do.
North Street to South Street...from East
Street to West Street...you've got to
get better names for your streets! Your
fall foliage is breathtaking, although
your mall sucks big time. Go Astros!
