Anna Kyouyama is a 14 year old itako (priestess) who has the ability to summon and control spirits no matter where they are with an enchantment and the sound of the blue beads around her neck. If you haven't seen the series, Anna usually has that indifferent look on her face (at the right) and randomly changes into a happier expression. She means what she says and says what she means, and doesn't like getting too near to people or showing feelings, maybe because of her lonely childhoodBut be very careful with what you say or do in front of her, you never know when she's going to snap back and throw/hit/slap/punch you so hard that you'll wake up next week. Yes, she's pretty much strong both physically and spiritually, heh. Anna likes doing things the traditional way yet getting something out of it (i.e. the phone argue), and somehow enjoys lying in front of the tv and watch soap operas.


Also, she is very stubborn on her goal to marry Yoh Asakura, her fiancee, the future Shaman King (supposed), and live a life full of health and wealth. In the Osorezan Reservoir (manga prior the Shaman Fight), Anna's personality is much more distant than what it is in the anime. She's quieter, tougher, and pretty much antisocial. But people always have their soft side, just that some aren't able to show it openly enough as others, not until they lose something very important.

Anna is a powerful shaman. However, unlike Yoh, she doesn't get possessed by spirits. She is an Itako, a special kind of Shaman who can call spirits from heaven and banish spirits to hell.
