About Me:
"Sad, slow, and drenched in vocal harmonies, Karpov's songs are made to sway along with; nothing that would spill your glass of cheap red, but plenty to inspire overflowing romantic notions. Charming and handsome, the bandleader tends to set girls' hearts to fluttering anyway" (SFWeekly, Aug 3rd 2005).

you can learn from Andre's room. Bare
of many possesions except for bed,
guitar, painting canvases, pictures of
friends, and paper with music, lyrics,
poetry, etc... lining his floor. He's now
going to ask me what I was doing in his
room next time I see him. I'll tell him I
was looking for my guitar strap
he "borrowed."
related, as far as we could figure it
anyway. we're not anymore i guess, but
he still wants to be friends, which i
think says a lot about him.
think of trees and andre and walking in spring
and broken concrete and weird buildings with
windows and i'd like to break a bottle on the
rocks at the east river with andre. don't you
know he'll pick up your woman and sit down
on your face whilst singing a song about your
hopeless goodness. good guy, good guy.
threw me in the pool we all had a good
laught
always remember that time he shaved in
the car when I was driving and we were
all going back from SF to Fort Bragg.
Not with an electric razor, no, with
SHAVING CREAM and a DISPOSABLE! This
lad is one of the good ones. He makes
wonderful art - his life and his
objects and his compositions. He gonna
die. We all gonna die. Sad days. I
feel confident Andre will be on the
side of the people vs. the fascists
when the big showdown goes down. Ah,
Andre. You are a good fellow. Don't
die any sooner than necessary.
Andre being in the world is like a
hurricane being in a very small room.
Andre is a big sexy kid with the voice
of a drunken, lecherous angel. Andre
has no subconscious - it's all out in
the open. Andre's great songs are like
Cat Stevens or James Taylor if they'd
been abducted by cannibals and forced
into inter-tribal warfare in the
Amazon, then sold as sex slaves in
Borneo, then escaped and went mountain-
climbing with sherpas, then spent time
as ascetic holy men in Calcutta, then
dated movie stars in Los Angeles, then
made horror movies in rural Austria,
then moved to New York City and shocked
the art world. Andre is my friend.
