Before Liz ever met me, she penned an article for her zine (Peep This, Babe) that referred to me as "just your average high school stalker." Then she came to my high school dance and gave out copies of it out to anyone interested. She also arrived at the dance dolled up and bleached to replicate a fourteen year-old version of Courtney Love. It was the hottest thing I had ever seen inside my cafeteria*. When I went up to go meet the girl who had given me my first complex, she told me that her name was Polly Pockets and brushed me off with a Swedish Fish. I ate the fish and saved the wrapper in the pocket of the green plaid gym shorts I had worn to the dance. That wrapper stayed in my pocket for over a year and a half. Every time my hand made contact with it, I got nostalgic for that night. Because that's what stalkers do. She's always been sharp as a tack.
