I appreciate the simple things in life the most, despite living in NYC, a city known for its excesses. Though I enjoy the occasional outing to the hot spots I'm generally looking for the place around the corner to hang out with a few friends. After all, it's who you're with and not where you are that really matters. I'm known to be friendly to all, yet selective about my closest friends who are like family to me. Aside from hanging out with friends, I also am a big believer in "me-time" - and make sure I get plenty of it. I'm firmly rooted in the big city for the time being, but it wasn't always that way...

Having grown up in suburbia (Easton,PA), I was decidedly amazed by all the diversity and the culture of my first urban home - Philadelphia - and became instantly a city boy. After four years at Penn, I graduated with a degree in chemistry with a music minor. Tragically (for my father anyway) I chose not to go onto medical school, and instead entered the world of IT consulting at a small company called Tigris based in Manhattan. Despite having no sports teams worth cheering for (I'm still an avid and loyal Philly sports fan), the big apple has just about everything else. Bars up the wazoo(dare I say karaoke?);
every kind of food I can imagine and more; a symphony orchestra that's got some serious game; an endless stream of famous and not-so-famous people to gawk at. Three years and many happy hours later, I'm still enjoying New York - although I've bid a sad farewell to Tigris to "pursue other opportunities." I always enjoy reconnecting with friends from Easton and Philly, and am excited to meet new people as well.

I'm looking for someone who appreciates the little things in life, the way a 10-year old can get excited about the silliest things. A positive (but not perky!) attitude is ideal - a smile is contagious and nothing comes close in terms of making those around you feel good. She should be friendly and outgoing, compassionate and considerate - someone who enjoys helping others. I admire talent, whether artistic, academic, athletic or otherwise. But even more important than the talent is her passion for what she pursues. Her friends and family are important to her - but so is her personal space and independence. Most importantly, I'm looking for someone who has diverse interests and can be equally serious and sophisticated as she is silly, depending on the situation. She'll enjoy a recital at Carnegie Hall as much as a hockey game at MSG; she can cite historical or cultural references one moment and laugh her ass off at comedy central the next; she appreciates fine restaurants and good wine, but is just as happy with the diner on the corner. She cares about who she's with - not where she is...
