other, I mentioned how cool Marni is. Since I first
was exposed to her in a more restricted and
confined time. As I continue to know her, I find
myself comparing her to one of those things that
gets better with age. You know the ones - no, not
wine. No, not cheese, though cheese is good.
Something kind of like a joke from a common
experience shared that gets more endearing the
more its repeated. Well, something like that.
Perhaps something more akin to the relief and
giddiness you feel right after laughing so hard
you cry and your stomach feels like it'll pull a sea
cucumber maneuver on you and go shooting
inside-out. It's been a good experience so far!
friend Alex's girlfriends. In Marni, all of
these characteristics must cancel each
other out, because she is one of the
most delightful human beings I've met in
my tenure in New York. She is funny,
sweet, and has good taste, especially
in stolen friends and aquaintances.
Sussman, Teenager" cards, as well. Of
course, she was 21 at the time...
business card. It read: Marni
Sussman, Teenager. In fact, her
twentieth birthday occurred shortly
thereafter making her investment
moot. I think she was heartbroken;
more for loss of accurate business
cards than loss of youth.
at Purchase (back when Adam would fire
me on a daily basis). My mom used to
call the office and talk to her
instead of me, which was amusing for a
while, but then just irritating, since
she would send her money instead of
me, also. The thing I love most about
Marni is that she puts up with my
flightiness about keeping in touch
with her. For instance, I was
supposed to e-mail her a few weeks ago
about hanging out, and instead of
doing that, I didn't. So I'm writing
this testimonial as a way of asking
for her forgiveness, or for the money
my parents sent her that should have
been mine.
me by the tail, making marni one of my
favorites.
the "J" stand for? Marni is the sister
who'd blow raspberries at you behind your
parents' back. She is (as far as I know)
a league leader in coulrophobe
conversions. She dances the pony on the
edge of corporate-sponsored survival and
inevitable dream fulfillment. She is the
crush-worthy girl next door and the
swervy-curvy woman who flirts just enough
to keep it a clean game. Intelligent,
just the right amount of dorky, with it
and out of it in the right proportions.
She is also a pleasant hostess with a
killer couch.
Marni and not turned to me and
said, "Marni is totally awesome." Well,
there was one guy, but he was wrong.
She's the hot-to-trot clown your mother
warned you about, so watch out, fellas,
Marni's on the prowl! Honk!
just shabby enough, like shabby chic.
who knows- with marni it's always a mystery.
