Cooking, dining, running, music, movies, museums, the parks or the beaches, winemaking, finding clean subway seats. Favorite stores: kitchen or lighting. Least favorite stores: clothing (though I can sit and watch try-ons almost patiently).

Currently reading: Listening In: Radio and the American Imagination; Postcards from the Edge; As Long as She Wants Me; Hooked: Pirates, Pirates, Poaching, and the Perfect Fish; And a Bottle of Rum.

Canonical films plus stuff that wasn't worth seeing on its first run.

I don't watch much! Let's say "Unwrapped, " since it interviewed me.

I improve other people's writing -- that's easier than improving my own. In summer I love outdoor movies and music; and dinners on my fire escape, watching the sun go down. I'm willing to jump a turnstile to catch a train. Love cats, like dogs.

People who smell nice. There's a surplus of the other kind.
