is MOST CERTAINLY my sister's
boyfriend. i didn't see it, but i heard
that she applied neon glow body
paint to his front AND back privates.
yikes is right! adam's love of tron
and body paint actually came at the
same time during his younger days
in the far off islands of hawaii. he
had tested the waters of "drum
circle" and "bike gang" but they
didn't seem to be right. both left him
feeling slightly unfulfilled. but then
he met a savage named Ko'watu.
Ko'watu's family was, how shall i
put this nicely, not exactly a unified
front, and his sanctuary, which he
soon shared with young chapman,
was his daily viewing of tron
followed by extended hours in the
thatched roof shed behind his hut
where he was attempting to perfect
his tron body suit. not to belittle his
relationship with my sister, but
these early years with Ko'watu in
the shed were the best of adam's
life. it was true friendship, the kind
that only blossoms in hawaii and
outrageous table talk that happens when
my family plays UNO. I mean, he's not
like specifically, personally responsible
for it, but that day when we played one
hand of Rugratz UNO for over an hour,
that changed our lives. So now, when
Lucas and i are playing UNO in the
coffee shops and family restaraunts of
Charlottesville and the east coast, by-
standers are scandalized and outraged
with our trash talking. And do you know
who originated the line "Take that,
MOM!" That was Adam. But it was me
that first said "You are a fool, and you're
a short 5 year old fool with fluffy cards."
Adam is a tall twenty something fool,
and i'm going to take him to UNO school
next time i see him. And I'm going to
deal him fluffy cards.
