Rowing, planning extravagant trips for when I finally have money, Duke basketball, finding the most perfect stout beer in the universe, coveting other peoples dogs and sculking around used book stores.

You know, classics...like the dictionary, the Bible, and the Physicians Desk Reference. Also, "Appetites" by Caroline Knapp, "The Devil's Dictionary" by Ambrose Bierce and "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis, "The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy

Any movie that doesn't embarrass the literary work from whence it came and....the collected works of John Cusack (two dollars....), quirky foreign films, quirky domestic films, "Trainspotting" (yes, still), completely sappy epic dramas like "The English Patient". Throw in a classic mini-series like "Shogun" or "The Thorn Birds" and I'm all set.

Anything live at Toad, James Blunt, David Gray, Tori Amos, DMB. I like Wagner, especially when there's no singing and I'd rather stick my nostrels together with super glue than sit through a concert of Baroque favorites. Okay, influences might be more compelling. How 'bout...Barry Manilow, Elvis Presley, Ray Stevens, Johnny Cash and a little ABBA here and there. Yes, they actually gave me a degree in music.

A work in progress...and sometimes regress. I try very hard to be good to the people I love and who love me. I read way more into things than I should. I don't mind making mistakes but I'll pass on making them twice. I am moderately proud of the fact that I cannot cook, but rather sad that I cannot sing.
