About Me:
This is always the part I have the most trouble with.
I'm instinctively an introvert who likes to pretend she's an extrovert at times. I'm a good listener, friendly, and unabashedly misguided in my sense of humor.
There is nothing else in life that compares with the importance and devotion that I feel for my family and friends. Although I may not have always realized it, without a doubt I am who I am as a result of being raised by two loving, educated Portuguese immigrants who attained the American dream. I feel fortunate for that because they passed on to my brother and me a very rich and vibrant culture that someday I hope to pass down to the second Portuguese-American generation.
As a product of fate (too long a story to go into now) its hard not to believe in it. However, it seems that we do have some control in the direction our lives take us; you cant sit back and expect life to come to you.
Recently, I have been reminded of how fragile our lives are and how quick everything we take for granted can be ripped away from us. My advice to all: Hold on tight to those you love and cherish every moment you have with them. We never know what tomorrow will take.
Finally, I also like to believe that there is a good and valid reason for why Mike keeps miniature plastic army men in his underwear drawer.
