Halloween, roller skates, little white pills that
made us feel so lovely. I skated around in my
gold and silver gown, camera dangling around
my shoulder, tangling with my green feather boa.
Gracelessly riding the illusion of my being a bad
ass roller derby photog I fell on my ass, snapped
the flash right off the camera. Retreating to the
bathroom to find some light, collect my trippin
self and try to fix it, I found you in there, fighting
for a spot in the mirror to paint your face.
Immediately welcoming me into your family,
somehow you made everything seem ok. Youve
been a doll ever since.
sleep, i recalled a similar night years ago...we
were at the lemonwheel, and one fateful night,
we all died. at least, emily and i did! you were
sleeping soundly, until i woke you sometime
before dawn, desperately needing to be
grounded. you were so sweet, sitting with me
and stroking my head, singing sweetly until i
fell into a beautiful sleep, so sound and
renewing that i felt like a new girl the next
morning when i woke to a lovely sunny day,
the breeze blowing over me and making me
smile. thank you. i never forgot how you, the
free spirit flying that you are, became so
grounded and motherly to me - you are
amazing. i miss you.

knows Lara. Lara is everywhere...
one afternoon and right away it was
fun. Within minutes it seemed like we
had been friends for much longer than
that. In a world full of masks upon
shrouds upon stilted interactions, Lara
pays no mind and moves to quilt the
terra firma with whole-hearted
sincerity. "May you someday realize
your goals" ~ I sampled the qoute from
that employer lady and remolded into
meaning nothing but good! Peas!
a wild wood spirit with so much beauty and
talent. She made me my favorite magic wand. I
remember one night, a few years ago, I was
going through a very difficult time, and Lara
sat with me in the car for an hour, sharing
wisdom and teaching me to sing heart songs.
This was one of the first times we had spent
together, and I was so blown away by her
power. What a wonderful person! I love you
lady, you're my sister!
for years, lived with her, rocked shows with
tails and butterfly wings with her, cooked
amazement with her, purified in saunas and
plunged through ice into other worlds with
her. She is a tireless warrior for peace,
organizer of wonder, woderous
quiltmaker, and will be an amazing mom when
the blessed time comes.
when I met her - red head, italian.. I
should have put two and two together
and realized what I was in for - but
by the time I did it was too late and
I was hooked..
Besides being the fiestiest (sp?)
person I've ever met, she's also one
of the best hearted and craftiest. She
should put some shots of her quilts up
here, as the first one she ever made
was better than any I'd seen before.
