About Me:
MY POPULATION: 80,098
Located in northeast Kansas, just 30 minutes west of Kansas
City and 20 minutes east of Topeka, the state capital.
Annual Average Temperature: 56 / High 67 / Low 45,
Annual Average Precipitation: 37",
I was founded in 1854 by the New England Emigrant Aid
Society in an effort to keep the territory free from
slavery. It is said that I am one of the few cities in the
U.S. founded strictly for political reasons. I have two
sexy trails that run through me the Oregan and the Santa Fe,
My streets are named after the states in the order they
came into the Union, beginning with Delaware. Massachusetts
Street was designated the "main" street because My founders
were from Massachusetts. Not to Gloat but The National
Trust for Historic Preservation ranked Me among its "Dozen
Most Distinctive Destinations" touting it as one of the
best-preserved and unique communities in America. I tend to
agree. I have also been rated among the top 15 in "The 100
Best Small Arts Towns in America" by author John Villani.
USA Today ranked Me as one of the least segregated
communities in the country. Way to go Me. But enough about
the historical bullshit. I am much older than 83.
Not to mention you can Ball out on 20$ and get shitfaced.
Nice.

Who I Want to Meet:
College kids that have never had credit cards before,
Drunken frat boys who keep bars like Fatso's and Brothers
up and running, Old hippie's with new money, Anyone who can
hook me up with some Mary Jane, Budding Artists, musicians,
or just plain posers. Punk rock, more punk rock. Having a
better reputation then Topeka, or for the rest of Kansas for
that matter.

past may and moved far, far away. kids
here are unsure that there are actually
places that exist between the east and
west coasts! i miss going to brothers
after classes and B-dubs after drinking
a bit too much! and i miss how easy it
was to get around...
Lawrence for a visit after 10 months
on the other side of the planet and
all I can say is Lawrence I've missed
you. I am looking forward to walking
down Mass, drinking at the Replay and
Taproom, shopping in your thrift
stores, sitting in one of your many
(non-corporate) coffee shops chain
smoking cigarettes with friends, and
most importantly some really great
shows. I've missed the atmosphere and
music of Lawrence more than I realized
I would, you gave me a great 4 years
and I am anxious to return before
heading back to the Far East.
the shows there are good. At the end of every visit
i stay at my friends sisters house and sleep with the
squirrels.
*sob*
speaking of which, is Lawrence
really a guy? I always had this city
pegged as a chick.
trouble explaining you and all the
things you are to Atlanta. Someday, you
will be appreciated for being the
greatest college town in the Midwest,
but for now, you provide entertainment
and refuge for those in the know.
Lawrence is the only place where I could
stumble into a cocktail party wearing a
t-shirt and jeans, knowing noone at the
party, and not be tossed out within a
minute. Also, La Parilla is magnificent.
Here's to you, L-Town!
Kansas City, but you will always be my
home. From the first time I attended
my mom's classes at KU with her when I
was in fourth grade I knew you and I
were meant to be together. You
introduced me to gin-and-tonics,
political activism, veganism, and tons
of great music. We are so lucky that
you are hidden here in Kansas where the
California hipsters can't find you.
Lawrence, my liver may hate you, but
who asked it anyway. I'll miss you so
much when I leave... I might just have
to find a way to take the Replay with
me. Otherwise I'll end up back here in
three years or less.
