sublime beauty and awe-inspiring talent
that is JBlend? Mere mortals will
doubtless be reading his immortal
missives for centuries to come - one of
the most generous and creative spirits
i have *ever* encountered. And
exquisite, enchanting charm that can
only be born in the Bayou. Shazam!
handedly responsible for that "Stephen
Schwartz" being in the music favorites
section of the profile. correct me if
i'm wrong, Jeffers. i used to sing
Jeffrey this sweet french lullabye-
esque song called "Chanson." Which
means "song" in some "language".
(quotation marks are fun. like little
dew drops of punctuation.) the song
told a harrowing tale of sheep
bleating and seeing faces at cafes and
various references to stew. anyways,
i would sing it to him over the phone
as he was cuddling up in his little
Jeffrey bed. I don't think he knew
right away, but the song was from this
glorious musical called The Baker's
Wife. The composer was Stephen
Schwartz and the musical closed in
Washington D.C. before it could reach
Broadway. at the time i met jeffrey i
was working at a record company in
connecticut, where, amazingly enough
The Baker's Wife was committed to
vinyl some 20 odd years before. i
feel like i had a point but i got a
little distracted. um, well, i loved
jeffrey very much. he always made me
laugh and comforted me when needed. i
hope to see you sometime, perhaps if
you come to chicago. i know ALA is
going to be here next summer. i think
you'd like my hubbie, Conrad. he's
also a librarian. funky, eh? guess
the Rehfeldt boy 'sgot somethin' fer
libarrians.
blue eyes, an engaging smile, and
always full of good cheer. He's the
kind of guy that always picks up your
spirits when he's around. Besides how
many librarians do you know who can run
a marathon?
