About Me:
Things change, don't they? I'm still a stay-at-home writer who takes care of two tiny, vicious dogs. I'm still purportedly a) writing a novel b) working intermittently on a blog titled Notes from a Brooding Poet c) Looking for freelance work (see my new website leskay.net d) Editing an online literary journal titled Ward 6 Review

Who I Want to Meet:
Literary Agents who think I'll be the next big thing--even though I only weigh about 160. Other intellectual types who have grown up enough not to be pompous little twits--you know, like I used to be.

could solve California's power problems
if rhetoric could be converted to
energy. He and I get into great
arguments about politics while still
agreeing on every point.
my mistress i still think he's groovy
actually he makes her all glowy and
that's enough for me
in Pittsburgh, clutching a book of Les's
poetry and wishing him the best in his
upcoming adventure to Florida. For
years I've wondered where he had gotten
off to, what he had set his sights on
and how his art had progressed, only
catching the occaisional snippet of
information when I happened to remember
to ask "the right person", most of whom
really had no clue. I'm so very happy
to have him back on my radar, as time
spent with him is definitely well spent.
I'm in DC, baby, come to visit.
kind, easy to laugh at, with, whatever.
I've learned a lot about myself and
others through our relationship because
he's let me. A tremendous amount of
give and take has never felt like a
burden, but always as an opportunity.
I've seen Les, so I have no idea if he
still has the same nervous energy that
once defined his artistic temperament.
I'm guessing he probably does.
Les is caring, conscientous, sensitive,
poetic and beautiful. I'm grateful to
him for inviting me into his circle of
friendster friends and, more than that,
making the effort to be my friend after
so many years.
life has become a constant struggle to
try to be cooler than he is. The only
chinks in his armor of coolness are
black beans and velcro.
Miss him lots, actually. He should
email me more.
other for nine years. when we first
met, he thought i was a bitch and i
thought he was stupid. a little while
later, he moved into the apartment
above mine, hung out at the same coffee
shop, and took a lot of the same
classes as me, so we started hanging
out and became good friends. two years
later, we had a falling out and didn't
speak for a long time. about a year
and a half ago, we started emailing
regularly. about six months ago he
said, "hey, i like you. do you want to
move to california and live with me?"
and i said, "yeah, okay." les is a
wonderful writer and he likes coffee
and books and cigarettes as much as
me. being a writer myself, when he
says "leave me alone, i'm writing," i
don't get offended as some girls
might. he doesn't make sense in the
mornings, he loves mac and cheese, and
he makes up these little songs on the
spur of the moment. sometimes, if he's
in the mood, he'll even take requests.
once he made up a song about a boy
named fred and his pet giraffe, sam.
if you ask him nicely, maybe he'll sing
it for you. all in all, we get along
just fine. someday, we're going to get
married and maybe have kids, if we can
ever agree on what to name them. one
last thing: les says harper's is a
better magazine than the atlantic
monthly, but he's wrong.
