About Me:
My goal in life is to own a Luvox (a drug for obsessive compulsive disorder), hand-soap dispenser. I'm overwhelmed by what my friends have written about me below, but I think it speaks better of them than of me that they would lie so. Except for David - he's an inveterate liar, though still a good friend.

Who I Want to Meet:
A good conversationalist would be a good start. Being a
good dancer is optional, but couldn't hurt.

to know matt. we made a number of cameo
appearances in each other's lives. then,
he helped me learn to juggle. and later
he helped me to learn group theory and
partial differential equations. once,
while studying group theory before a
poetry reading he began to read aloud in
that "Mid-90's Canonical Poet's Voice."
and that sequed into daring someone into
reading the back of a rainforest crunch
candybar wrapper during the open mike
segment. we three thought it was
fabulous, though no one else saw the
humor in leftist candybar propagnada
becoming indistinguishable from
contemporary poetry when read in that
Voice. somewhere, i have a copy of
Dummit and Foote with that same wrapper
stuck in it's pages. "hot. and humid. at
the tropical source..."
but, more important is that matt is
almost always smiling, has an infectious
laugh and i've have never, ever seen him
act out of malice.
about matt ("matt is a dickwad," et
cetera dumb jokes) that i'm sorry for,
cause i didn't really even know what i
was writing. so, sorry about that,
matt. anyhow, this is my first
testimony i'm writing, so i guess
means matt must be a very good friend
of mine. we're drinking buddies,
mostly. we met at a bar, haha, how
dumb is that. so, anyways, matt has an
incredible memory. that makes it hard
but enjoyable to have a conversation
with him, cause he'll whip stuff out
of his ass, but it's genuine stuff.
hanging out with him is like being in
an episode of seinfeld, only you're a
character from the matrix. and
probably drunk. (i sometimes am.) (not
right now. but when we hang out, i
sometimes am.)
principled and self-aware. He always
has something funny and thoughtful to
say (or sing). He's willing to follow
you down any line of thought, and he
usually ends up leading the journey.
He has opinions about almost everything
and they're thought out so well that
it's hard to disagree with him. His is
one of the strongest minds I've ever
known. If he wasn't so kind and
caring, he'd be a very dangerous person.
favorite left-leaning,
football-following, poetry-reading
person was, I'd probably say me, but
that's just the narcissism talking.
Matt, on the other hand, possesses all
of those wonderful qualities, but he can
also provide you with a precise
definition of "narcissism," complete
with references, provide a succinct
argument detailing the foibles of
late-capitalist society, while (and
this is the important part) making you
laugh a great big belly laugh, and
explain why the Ravens are destined to
win yet another superbowl this year on
the strength of their defense alone. And
more than that, he's a phenomenal
friend....who is amazingly loyal, a
fantastic listener, and without
question, one of the best friends I've
ever had.
when i ask him to tell me something new
and interesting, always has something
both new and interesting to say. matt
likes japanese horror movies, french
new wave film, and he has very eclectic
taste in music. he can tell you all
about personality disorders and any
number of weird and interesting
pyschological phenomena. matt plays
the guitar and he likes to sing, and he
will sing something for you anytime you
ask him. matt is a good listener, and
i always feel better after talking to
him. he's one of the best
conversationalists i've ever known, and
he always makes me laugh. right now
he's very far away in pittsburgh, and i
miss him terribly.
