About Me:
An aloof, cold individual, Kanakura Haito's personality tends to keep others at a distance. He has earned his living as a bodyguard, well known for never having lost a client. Part of his technique involves ingesting a powerful drug to alter himself before a fight, giving him tremendous strength, especially in his sword wielding arm. A brutal mercenary in all rights.

mainly by criminals and a troupe of
government-controlled samurai who
remained on the island to police the
activities of the local inhabitants. Since
Haito was raised on this island as a
child and does not come from a Samurai
family, he is deemed to be peasantry,
like the criminals. His female care-giver
(denoted as "Woman" in the both the
American and Japanese releases of the
game, NOT as his mother) is most likely
a
prostitute; why else would a kindly
woman be on an island inhabited by
criminals
if she's not part of a samurai family?
In the Japanese version of the game, the
other children who pick on young
Haito say that his father is "nezumi"
(Japanese word for "mouse"). This
means
that his father was of little social
standing--most likely a 'trick' for a
prostitute.
of his blood, saying that his
father may not have been human. He
responds, "Red. My blood is red." I'd
like to
believe that in the Japanese version he
then beat the crap out of his bullies
and went home where the "Woman"
cleaned his wounds, though there is no
evidence
to support any act of violence on his
part. He developed a fixation with the
color red. The Woman simply says that
he'll be a difficult child.
Having grown into a healthy young adult
albino, he hires himself out as a
bodyguard. He still speaks the
mantra "Watashi no chi ga akai da (My
blood is
red)."
Shodown, there was a poetic samurai
named Tachibana Ukyo, who had had
Tuberculosis, causing him to
intermittently
lose his strength and cough up blood.
He also carried a simple samurai sword
with no tsuba (the center guard for
parrying) Like Tachibana Ukyo of the
earlier
Samurai Shodown games, Haito has
Tuberculosis and also carries a sword
with no
"tsuba". Coincidence that Ukyo had 1
wife and 6 consorts and died at the end
of
game number 6? And that this game
takes place 20 years after game number
6? And
that Haito is 19 years old (keep in mind
that he also spent 9 months in the
womb). Coincidence? Maybe...
