There was the afternoon at Coney Island. And a couple of evenings in Park Slope watching movies. There was the adventurous Manhattan day we met on Christopher Street, drifting towards the pier to watch the day go by. There was a subway ride that was highlighted by a beautiful Italian man. And there was the big road trip to Connecticut to support a friend.
Amy always has somethng on her mind. That is her greatest charm. She knows how to think, and has an amazing ability to put her thoughts into words. She can connect with the larger and smaller world; The visible and invisible world, and has no shame to ask the universe and humankind, "what the [bleep] do we know?!"
RHYMES WITH HARP!
that's how you know she's an angel
been my friend for over 20 years (Can
you believe its been that long?) We
have been through so much and so
many awkward stages together. She is
not only my oldest friend, but my dearest
friend. Anyone who knows Amy knows
that she is an intelligent, friendly,
extremely giving and beautiful person
inside and out (Love your photos by the
way---you look like a model!) Aside
from being an amazing friend to me,
Amy has surpassed friendship and is
like family to me. I love her
unconditionally. She has been there
during the happiest times of my life and
also through the most difficult times. I
truly admire her determination to reach
her goals and fulfill her dreams. I know
that she will be a great professor and
succeed in whatever future plans she
has in store. Amy deserves all the
happiness in the world.
by car on any of our various whims
together, but we have been places I
never would have imagined. And we've
never broken down, as we probably
would have if we'd tried to make it to
NOLA in either of our various junk-ass
vehicles. The only person in my life I
can always reconnect with regardless of
time or space - she invariably brings me
to laughter or tears.
And she promised to marry me if we're
both single at 50 - so you'd better get a
move on, girl's and exceptional
men, 'cause so far I've got major dibs on
some seriously valuable turf over here.
and jam. I like Amy cause she's cool.
Amy's neato, smart, veggie, critical,
spirited, fun, brassy, and makes cool
cookies that I can't recall what
they're called. I had fun at her
Halloween party last year. She makes
my days at university a little bit
queerer (which is a good thing), and
she agrees that there needs to be more
gay men in our department. Hooray for
Amy!
Through all of the jokes I've cracked at the
wrong times and all the times I've been in
one of my quiet moods for hours (sometimes
days) on end, I know she's someone who
values the simple and beautiful things about
other human beings...granted she also finds
major faults with our ways of being in this
world but this is why I love this woman so
much. She's critical, cannot stop thinking
about the possible implications of things,
and finds it hard to relax, but she manages
to find and connect with the best parts of
people. She's managed to find and value
my good parts and I know that if I fuck myself
up, she's gonna be there...and I won't need
to ask her. I've learned from her...she's a
wonderful teacher and I'm a better person
from her lessons. I now know not to laugh at
someone who litterally doesn't like to get
their shoes muddy, but to look at it with
endearment and history...We haven't tried
walking through a horse pasture together
yet so who knows if this woman will put me
over th edge...kidding. Amy is simply one of
the most beautiful women I've been
privileged to get to know.
with/Times had an argument with, I
think I've argued more frequently with
Amy (AKA AK) than anyone I've ever
known. But I'd'a died of boredom my
first year in Maryland without
her.Funny and snarky, except that she
likes those movies where people have
to cope with stuff. I don't understand
why she talks so fast, and gets
impatient when I try to tell a story--
Hello, English grad? Narrative? Other
than that, she's a great listener, and
one of the most entertaining humans I
know, which is saying a lot.
