About Me:
I write about lots of stuff. I have a web site at
http://www.lacunae.com . I make really amazing mix CDs, and
will trade them for really amazing non-music stuff
(lessons, art objects you've made yourself, etc.). I'm
told I give good advice, and I like giving it. I usually
answer email. I just moved to Portland, & would be grateful for advice
from locals.

Testimonials and Comments for Douglas
Portland's most exciting additions
since I've been here! Generous, kind,
funny, talented and consummate music
maniacs, they will fit right in without
blending away. Top notch!
modest, creative, and unendingly interesting
people I have ever met. Seriously. If the world
was more Douglasified, it would surely be a
better place. He has an utterly brilliant mix-
CD for every occasion; if there was a Nobel
Prize for mixtape-making (as there should
be), Douglas would win. Oh, and he's an
excellent writer with wonderful taste. As if all
this wasn't enough, he plays a mean 'King's
Lead Hat', too. New York's loss is Portland's
gain, and I'll miss him when he goes.
lodestars, James Brown and Mark E.
Smith, are dyed-in-the-wool autocrats
above neither taking credit for the
efforts of others, nor resorting to
physical intimidation to get their
way. As far as I can tell, Douglas is
the anti-Brown/Smith on these counts.
Unfailingly generous and gracious, he's
unusual among avowed aesethetes for
being pretty clearly more passionate
about people than stuff. He's also
been an understanding friend during
periods when I have displayed my own
character flaws to great and surely
trying disadvantage.
I know many enthusiastic, unjaded
people. I also know many extremely
knowledgable, accomplished people.
Douglas is one of the few who fits both
descriptions.
about a lot of things (culture things
especially, but lots and lots of
things) and never, ever use that to
make others feel small. He is generous,
sly, enthused and ethical and he's
never said anything that wasn't well
worth heeding.
giant heart, on the best things about
things.
Douglas that I realised I was in the
company of one of the world's great
renaissance men. Alas, that company has
so far totalled only two weeks, due to
us living on opposite sides of the
world. Nevertheless, it has been an
honour to swap CD-Rs, discuss James
Brown and The Fall, and be photographed
semi-naked wearing a fish head and
panama. I hope to be privileged yet with
more of the same.
possesses intelligentsia & integrity
to the maximum degree. He was
wise enough to marry a
sharpminded & gentle soulmate.
Some guys have all the luck.
I am so stoked you are on Freindster too. I
am freaking addicted to Freindster! Oh Mi
God you have so many freinds, I only have
like 30 and I swear half of them are girls
from my floor at the dorms who I don;t even
really like, but they are always out in the
quad being like "Are you on freindster?" and
you can;t say no, because what if they do a
user search on you, and see that you are
totally on there, and then, next thing you
know someone tags DORM SLUT on yr door
in shaving cream and you are responsible
for cleaning it up. So, here's my testimonial:
In the eighties, my family lived in New
Jersey and my brother was super into this
band DRI and has really long greasy hair
and Doug gave him guitar lessons in our rec
room in the basement, and kind of kept my
brother from turning into a total loser, and
got him into more normal music I guess, and
my parents say we owe it all to Doug
because my brother is the guitar-tech for
Nuno bettancourt from EXtreme and not like,
in re-hab. GO DOUG!
Klosterman book and lo and behold,
there's a paragraph making fun of
Douglas for drinking juice. I am
proud to know this man.
