      • Certainly, this movies humor is very generational and I happen to be of the right generation. Touching, if somewhat dated, plot about horny teens being teenagers. Artful movie-making this isnt, but children of the late 70s and early 80s will find some nostalgia and truth in the characters and story. A really funny comedy with tons of quotable lines. Still, like other so-called teen comedies, the movie ties together too well and too neatly to be convincing, if only life was really so feel-good. Fast Times at Ridgemont High has early screen appearances of many current, adding some trivia value.

      • I didn't care much for this movie when I saw it in the '70s, but I like it better now. Maybe I got it better this time. It's very creepy, in the vein of 'The Shining', but much less violent or action-oriented. It's very slow-paced and subtle. I in fact would be interested in seeing when 'The Shining' was written, because it may well have been a complete rip-off of this movie. The family moves into a strange house for a summer, and then the weirdness starts. Worse yet, the house itself won't let them leave. It's definitely not a classic, or even one of the best of the '70s, but it's worth watching and deserves to be more widely remembered than it is. It's beautifully filmed, the acting is excellent, and it doesn't go all stupid on you. You will never forget the chauffeur.
