He understands the depth and breadth of camp, which is a dying art. He is witty and has made it a life goal to know someting about whatever you are talking about so you can talk about it together.
Hal is the perfect textbook Autodidact (look it up).
His observations on life (while channelling an old, dying or dead female relative) are always delivery with pinpoint precision with a remarkably funny. With universal appeal.
Hal and I have drifted in and out of each others life since he was 15-16 or so. I am so pleased with the man that the boy became.
the day at good ole SHS. He was my
first crush (it would be later in life
that I discovered those 'feelings' were
really my desires to become a "fag-hag"-
-mission accomplished) I am so glad I
found Hal--I feel complete!
for probably 5 or 6 years now and have
always though him the sweetest guy.
Our meetings our spaced apart, at
random times and, incidentally, the
most random of places. I'm glad he's
my random friend because it makes me so
happy to see him. No pretence, no fuss,
just a decent, kind person.
He gives stellar foot rubs and will
make you a nice sauce out of the
perishables in your refrigerator before
you go on vacation. And it's true he
knows everything about pop culture: If
you can't remember the name of someone
obscure on TV, you can count on Hal to
provide that and more. He will read all
of Vanity Fair, just so you can only
pay attention to the good bits. Also,
he can rattle off the names of all of
the members of the now-defunct boy band
98 degrees without even pausing to
think. And if you think that's not
vital knowledge, buddy, well, Hal
doesn't need to be your friend anyway.
