Publisher
I moved to Los Angeles in Jan 2003 to start Killa Publishing, a full service independent music publishing company dedicated to helping artists further their careers. My goal is to do everything I can to help the LA music scene prosper and to help my artists achieve success.
Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party and The Blood Arm
Together with my good friend Stephen Hauptfuhr, who I happen to think is the best promoter in LA, I organized Franz Ferdinand's promotional party for their first visit to US, nearly 1,000 people showed up. The whole band DJ'ed and met The Blood Arm (whom we invited to perform) who they loved and have supported ever since. I also secured The Blood Arm's first press coverage in the UK, an interview in Drowned in Sound magazine.
Shortly after this party I heard about a little known UK band called Bloc Party and secured them their first US radio play by giving their debut single to my friend Rodney Bingenheimer at KROQ
I Love LA
In 2004, I partnered with Stephen Hauptfuhr again to release a compilation album to promote some of the best bands on the LA music scene through his label Radio Records. The CD included Ima Robot, Midnight Movies, Giant Drag, The Blood Arm and Moving Units.
Movie
Summer 2004, I was approached to be music supervisor for a feature film called Little Athens alongside Kenny Morrison and took the opportunity to get exposure for the talented bands we have here in LA.
The soundtrack includes The Local Division, The Walkmen, Kennedy, Helen Stellar, The Veils, Ben Kweller, Viva K, Zoe Bonham, The Vacation, Silversun Pickups, Rolling Blackouts, Paper Dolls, Ima Robot, The Plebz, Dirty Little Secret, Ashbury, King Straggler, Jessica Owen, 400 Blows, Whitestarr, Mean Reds, Scarlet Symphony, Kill Radio and The Bronx.
I've run out of room!
