If I wasn't in a serious relationship and committed to the heterosexual squad, I'd be all up in Rich's grill. First of all, he's got mad skills. He tickles the ivory as if it was still on the elephant. Secondly, he's into physics. That means that his word has weight and mass.

Now that Rich has given up his Fisher Price cell phone, he and I might be able to play on the seesaw someday. And for the record, you'll all be jealous when he and I are playing together. I knew Rich when he was a singer/songwriter. He was the tits. Now, he's the pie. Mmmm. Wow, this is hardly a testimonial - more like an indictment. Hoorey for fuel efficient car owners!

I've known Rich for 9 years, and we've been buddies from the start, except for that awkward first few years and that four-year gap from 2000-2004 where we nonchalantly lost touch with each other. But seriously, Rich is awesome. He's funny, fun and always willing to have a good time a friend, even if it means driving eight hours by himself through the bowels of Pennsylvania to visit me. God bless him. He's also a musical genius (ladies are you paying attention?)

Few moments have ever touched my life so deeply as the time that Rich and I snuck into Gasson Hall at BC in the middle of the night and played dueling grand pianos. During those moments I had an epiphany, and realized that the magic in the music was worth throwing away a perfectly decent degree in physics over. I guess in a way, Rich helped me to discover and follow my real dream- making music.

That, and man, once he had this pair of silver vinyl pants...damn.

There are people who will come in and out of your life, who will promise to stick around forever and don't, who will promise to stick by you no matter what and don't. And then there are people like Rich who, when you're feeling like crap about everything, can restore your faith in humanity. He is the strongest person I've ever met; he can handle whatever is thrown at him and come out of it a better person. He puts the people he loves ahead of himself...because he wants to, not because he feels like he has to. We're all better off for having Rich in our lives.

The finest of bottled waters, Rich is full of minerals and sparkliness. There's the bad joke out of the way. If you're ever in a bind, and need silver pleather pants, he's the man. Not many other people could compel me to listen to "Baby One More Time" in its entirety on voice mail, just to see if there was anything even marginally relevant about the message (there wasn't, and now that damn song is in my head again).
