books are like crack for me - I consume them in large quantities, sometimes indiscriminately. but some favorites over the years include a tree grows in brooklyn, the year of magical thinking, the tipping point, love in the time of cholera, middlesex, the corrections, skinny legs and all (and almost anything by tom robbins), insomnia, the great gatsby, harry potter, historical fiction, sociological non-fiction, and for flying, i love a good trashy mystery.

here's some of what I like, but you know I'll try just about anything: funk music that leads to wild dancing in the living room, local singer-songwriters, the beatles, norah jones, prince, liz phair, elvis costello, red hot chili peppers, good old fashioned rock n' roll, janis joplin, the new and interesting music my friends introduce me to, and lately I've been digging stuff with a country twang.

how I met your mother, rescue me, veronica mars (RIP), heroes, project runway and top chef, six feet under, gilmore girls, entourage, food network, and embarrassingly, America's Next Top Model.

Cake-baking, booty-shaking, law-making hussy. Recently returned to NYC after two years in sunny San Diego, and trying to figure out how to hold on to a Mustang convertible outlook in an express train town. Not such a simple thing....
