Alex does not suffers fools gladly, and she believes, fiercely, in social justice but her
politics are neither pre-made nor easily characterized.
All Black women in this culture have numerous structural forces arrayed against their very existence. No, I'm not going say that Alex is a stereotypical "strong Black woman",
but she has a far larger sense of agency and power in the world than almost anyone I know.
OK, I did have jr. high-like crush on her once, and that passed. My crush had little to do with simple physical attraction. If you met her, you'd have a crush on her at some point. It has to do with meeting a person (Alex) about whom you could say, authentically, that she is not 'like' anyone else.
Alex does not suffers fools gladly, and she believes, fiercely, in social justice but her
politics are pre-made and easily identified.
