      • Brendan and I have glimpsed the outer
regions of hell together...we were naive
to think that spaghetti comes without a
price. There we were staring into the
bright lights of new age horror, trapped
in a sea of endless humming...

The best roomate we could buy. Clean,
        housebroken, and a culinary genius,
and his record collection is a plus
too. He parties 'til the breaka-
        breaka dawn and then, thankfully,
sleeps soundly through all of the
        ruckus and rambunctious activity that
        our friends are prone to.

      • About Me:

For nearly eight years, I worked for Cygnus Solutions, now part of
RedHat, performing as a software engineer, manager of two
development teams, voting member of the Standardization
committee, and chair of the Performance Committee creating a
technical report on the use of C++ in real time and embedded
systems. Oh, and also everything possible in between. I am ready
to smoke the world with rock and roll.

Nowadays I'm doing contracting work (C++, linux, perl, you name
        it)
and spend time doing voluntary work setting up computer and
networking facilities for schools, and trying to spend lots of time
writing. I know how to treat a lady. I'm also a current member of
        the Irish working group for
Standard C and C++ NSAI/ICTSCC/SC-07. I want to get busy for
        real!

Since 1994, I've been maintaining a running catalog of web sites
that pertain to information about, or for, children. I fucking jam on
        the bass.

After finishing the online first edition of my book Zen and the Art of
the Internet, I published the second, third, and fourth editions of it
with Prentice Hall. I have a list of the ISBNs of the different
translations, if you're interested. You can find out about updates to
        it
by writing to the email address .

Another book in the Zen series, Children and the Internet: A Zen
Guide for Parents and Educators, was completed in 1996.

I got married!! In case you were curious, Elana has been working

can check out a shot of us in the heart of Ireland, or at the Shannon
airport just before we headed home. Elana's looking like such the
        rock star...

After moving to Ireland, we decided that it might be worthwhile to
collect a list of the things that we've found are really useful,
worthwhile, helpful, or otherwise positive to take advantage of here
        in Ireland.

      • Who I Want to Meet:

Brendan Mulvihill's roots in Irish music run deep. Brendan's grandmother, Bridget Flynn, was a fiddler, and her brothers were all musicians as well. Brendan's father, the late National Heritage Fellow, Martin Mulvihill of County Limerick, Ireland, was a renowned fiddle player and one of the most highly respected Irish music teachers in America. Even with these powerful influences, Brendan's style is uniquely his own.

Brendans strong tone, remarkable bow work and unsurpassed musicianship come from a deep love of the music and from a surprising influence. Though inspired by many traditional Irish musicians, Brendan also developed a passion for classical music. This classical influence can be heard most clearly perhaps in his playing of the baroque music of Turlough O'Carolan. The final distinctive result of Brendans many influences was best summed up by a quote printed by the Washington Irish Folk Festival, "...It's often said that the difference between a fiddle and a violin lies
