Cupcake writes a mean blog, listens to NPR, and introduced me to the wonderful world of "A Prayer for Owen Meany" ... She also endured my three and a half hour karaoke extravaganza where she knew none of my friends. Strangely, she chose not to sing .. oh well, maybe next time!
You look really hot in that friendster picture. Keep fighting the good fight!
Your friend,
Tavis
Its an eponym, named after a fictional cartoon character named Caspar Milquetoast, invented by the American illustrator Harold T Webster in 1924. The strip was called The Timid Soul and appeared every Sunday in the New York Herald Tribune up to his death in 1953. Mr Webster said that his character was the man who speaks softly and gets hit with a big stick.
The name is just a Frenchified respelling of the old American English term milk toast, an uninspiring, bland dish which was created from slices of buttered toast laid in a dish of milk, usually considered to be food for invalids. Theres an even older foodstuff, milksop, which was untoasted bread soaked in milk, likewise something suitable only for infants or the sick.
P.S. Nancy was the ill Fire Captain for Park House.
degree day (granted, she baked them
for me in my own non-airconditioned
apartment), and she found me a
salaried job with benefits when I felt like
giving up on my life in New York. She
always makes me laugh but I know
she'd be there to listen if I needed to
cry. We met at a leadership program,
but I've been following her example ever
since. Brooklyn is nicer with you in it.
This chick is as cool as they come. She's
wise, witty and frank, knows how to bake a
mean cookie, but yet, for all her literary
acumen, harbors aspirations to write a
children's board book. (Yeah, total word
count of 12, and chew-proof). So, if you're an
agent, pick her up. (Or, if you're a guy
looking to feel the might of pithy intellect, cute
hair, and want a really good brownie, send
resume and cover letter).
