Defense of the Ancients pits two teams of players against each other: the Sentinel and the Scourge. Players on the Sentinel team are based at the southwest corner of the map, and those on the Scourge team are based at the northeast corner. Each base is defended by towers and waves of units which guard the main paths leading to their base. In the center of each base is the "Ancient", a building that must be destroyed to win the game.




Each human player controls one Hero, a powerful unit with unique abilities. In Allstars, players on each side choose one of ninety-five heroes, each with different abilities and tactical advantages over other heroes.The scenario is highly team-oriented; it is difficult for one player to carry the team to victory alone.Nevertheless, some heroes, given enough time, can change the outcome single-handedly, while countering the opposing team's heroes. Defense of the Ancients allows up to ten players in a five versus five format and an additional two slots for referees or observers, often with an equal number of players on each side.

--PUDGE--
A monstrosity sewn together from dozens of corpses, Pudge is the epitome of the sadist part of the Lich King’s mind. Filled with a never satisfied hunger for living flesh, he is fond of employing his bloodied meat hook to snag the first helpless victim it encounters, only to drag his prey unwillingly into his grasp. The life of the helpless fool is soon ended as a deadly miasma is expelled from Pudge’s body, rotting his food to make the feasting process significantly more painful. From each completed hunt, Pudge grows still stronger as he dismembers his victim’s limbs and adds it to his own.
Haphazardly stitched together from hundreds of corpses, Pudge is a truly terrifying sight to behold. Towering above even the largest the Sentinel’s heroes and possessing the strength of a thousand soldiers, he grows ever stronger with every hapless victim he assimilates into himself. His greatest joy is to unleash the Plague itself from within him, relishing in the screams of agony and terror that fill the air as the flesh of his enemy rots from their bones while they are dragged unwillingly to their end at his great maw. One of the mightiest of the Scourge’s dark champions, the Butcher is a monstrosity rightfully feared by all.It is said his victims catch only a glimpse of his monstrous frame as they are dragged them through the shadows, bleeding profusely as a jagged hook etches deeper in their flesh.



--MORTRED--
Once a member of the elite group known as the Wardens, Mortred's brutal and perverse ways angered her Night Elf brethren, who forever exiled her from their society. Seeking revenge she decided to join the scourge, and now she fights against those who once were her kin, without even feeling a bit of remorse for that. Her ability to blend with her surroundings and her immensurable speed have earned her the nickname of Phantom Assasin, and a destructive and merciful blow delivered to snap her victims out of their suffering is the only trace of compassion that Mortred has in her heart.



--DEMON WITCH--
With control over the terrible powers of the demon lord Archimonde, Lion is a feared and respected enemy on the battlefield. Once a wizard of Dalaran, he ventured deeper into the unknown arts and became corrupted by the iron will of the Frozen Throne. He is a powerful disabler, able to afflict all sorts of curses onto an enemy and has achieved the zenith of demon magics.Intelligence Hero, specialized in burst damage and disabling his opponents. Most of his spells, however, are single targeted so most of his power lies in surprise attacking a single opponent.

--NIGHT STALKER--
Balanar was one of the elite Dreadlords before the Burning Legion fell. Now with the Burning Legion gone, he lives his life attacking villages and ambushing his most hated enemy - the Night Elves. He draws upon his power from the moon, thus he is much stronger at night. Balanar can also use his control over time to change the time to night that further strengthens his power. His presence inspires fear into the heart of many.Strength Hero, very strong at night, but loses his power during the day. His ultimate enables him to summon nightfall, and excels at ganking and killing.



--LIFE STEALER--
There once was a man in Lordaeron so consumed by greed that he was beyond remorse. Eventually caught trying to steal Prince Arthas' sacred ring, he was tried and hanged. Yet his body, so corrupted by his desire to steal, had risen by itself in the form of a monstrous ghoul. So came into being N'aix, his old name long forgotten: the embodiment of lust and greed, bent on stealing the life of every living creature he encounters.
Hero info: Strength Hero, N'aix's focus lies with stealing life and consuming his enemies a little at a time with each attack. Remade from his previous incarnation, he can gain both attack speed.
