Sonnet. Since I was 13, I have lusted
for her friendship. I even had a taste
of it for a while and damn, it was
sweet. But Sonnet is just too good for
mere mortals. She won my whole heart
with a poem she wrote in 1998. That
poem is called "I Want to Fuck Art"
and I tell you, it sings directly to
the soul. That or I was just impressed
that she used the word "fuck" and
wasn't afraid about getting in trouble
for it. You never know. In any case, I
have an altar to Sonnet in my heart
and a bizarre and extensive collection
of Sonnet-related memorabilia
(letters, pictures, one of her pens,
printed e-mails from 5 years ago...)
in my home, and seeing as I haven't
talked to her in years or seen her in
twice that, I think that speaks
volumes. This girl shaped my life in
more ways than I'm willing to admit
