Testimonials and Comments for Scott
Memphis' distant past bottle-rocketing
straight into it's near future. He is
the mortar between the bricks of
Mempho's foundation laying forefathers,
known to rock the frets with the likes
of just about anyone you admired growing
up listenting to southern soul and
blues. A traditionalist with the heart
of a beatnik, he will surprise you by
breaking the glass of his own
particularities only to throw caution to
the wind in a haze of whisky dancin' and
soul satisfying git down. Always fun,
always a surprise, and sometimes a
crank, I have laughed more with this son
o' mine than almost anyone else in the
state of Tennessee.
We have enjoyed and endured everything
from Crawfish Pies to Raiford's Sexxxy
Dance Night, Joe Don Baker movie
marathons to small town shopping in the
strange and glorious hamlets of North
Mississippi, weed parties with holler to
pimento cheese after Sunday church
socials. I will never let him get too
far from home without a fight.
heart and soul of Memphis. up Madison
and back down UNION driving slowly,
late at night in the caddy. tilting his
head back and shaking it slightly when
he says with a memphis drawl, "you
guys...."
wearin' shades and a boss suit. playing
the hell out of a fender bass....
a major part of the Memphis
scene...hell, you can look up "memphis
music scene" in the dictionary and
there's a picture of scott Bomar right
there, (next to steve cropper...)
and thats damn fine!
What a Player!
have to hear him on guitar...got licks
that make Midas looked tarnished.
But we all know that DogHouse really
cranks my tractor. keep rockin!
him in years though. i remember driving
his ass way the hell out to his parent's
house (i think) one night. i think that
was the first time i'd ever been in
frayser, haha.
and yet another ex-pezz bass player,
there are a million of us.
in Memphis. We were both wee teens at
the time. Through flat tires, trips to
Las Vegas, and years of beers at The
Lamplighter we've endured. I haven't
been back to Memphis for almost 4 years
now, but i'll be going back in about 3
weeks. Scott is probably the person
I'm looking forward most to hanging out
with.
(fantasy warehouse) to many nights of
underage drinking at pat's pizza, to
countless shows at the antenna club and
barristers, scott was right there with
me. i owe much of the corruption of my
late teens to this fella. i still wish i
would've sold him my '74 valiant! one of
the straight up nicest guys you're
likely to cross paths with.
Wray tickets off of him on my first
trip to Memphis. We talked some more
at the show, kicked it at the
Lamplighter and a new friendship was
born. Entering the world of Scott
Bomar, his friends, music and hangouts
has been one of the highlights of my
life. He is the epitome of Memphis
cool.
the bad, AND the ugly -- and he's still
wanting to hang out and be my fren' --
now how many folks can you say that
about? A good listener, a sweet talker,
and the owner of the sexiest ass in
midtown (i really ogle him when he's
wearing those black levis and cowboy
boots), Scott is a fine southern gent.
I am proud to call him a friend and a
brother... and, last but not least, he
is an amazing musician who manages to
create masterpieces from thin air.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I present the
man who put the Bo in Bo-Keys -- the
one, the only, Scott Bomar!!!!!
